I Love Lubbock Music!

Saturday, June 15, 2013, and there is plenty of music in Lubbock! Around 5:00pm the Legion Riders 4th Annual Legacy Scholarship Fundraiser kicks off at Jake’s, and at 6:45pm the Sounds of West Texas starts with an acoustic show followed by Gospel, country, and pop by lots of local musicians like Larry Allen, Steve Burris, Susan Browning, Lesley Carraway, Danny Dukatnik, Martin Duckett, Dakota Earnest, Ray Espinoza, Mary Fletcher, Jessica Kirk, Lonnie Kuss, Donetta Lippe, Donnie Martin, Gary Nix, The Sides Family, Betty Smith, Keith Smith, Kaci Solberg, Riley Solberg, Brian Tate, Tina Turner, Baxter Vaughn, Mark Wallney, Darren Welch, Terry Westbrook and Connie Williams…whew! At 7:00pm Daydream Guitars (wonderful) play at Mi Taco village, the Roadhouse Duo play at Triple J, the Electric Gypsies rock out at the 2nd Annual KOOL FM Summer Splash at Buffalo Springs Lake, Karleigh Porterfield plays at Rain Uptown, Peter Pan is the feature at Lubbock Moonlight Musicals at the Wells Fargo Amphitheater, Jesse Ballew and Darren Welch rock at Gators Bayou, William Clark Green and Micky and the Motorcars play country rock at the Mallet Event Center in Levelland, and the 2nd Annual June Jam featuring Bob Livingston, Andy Wilkinson, Curtis Peoples and friends are at a 3208 20th House concert. At 7:30pm L.A. Surfers meet Jimmy Buffett is performed at the Cactus Theater with mucho surfer music. At 8:00pm Ginger and the Alchemists do great jazz and pop at La Diosa, the Randall King Band plays country at D’Vine Wine, Bob and Penny Villa start their fun music at Harrigans, and the Texas Cadillac Jack Band plays country hits at Jack and Diannes. At 9:00pm The Toon rocks out at Cafe J, DAYZ Wasted plays country rock at the Koko, Lil’ Flip with DJ Rozaye and Kid Phix are at Club Karma, and another Lil’Flip after party with DJ Johnny T and DJ Cisco starts at Club Groove, the Fiesta Center has a Fathers Day Celebration Dance with Joe Bravo, Jessie Serrata, My Way, and Carlos Guzmans Final Tour. At 10:00pm Melanee with Roger Box and Plan B rocks the Office Bar and Grill, Lacey Leatherman Band starts rocking at Bucas, Vance Guthrie and Junction 84 play country at Bash’s Main, Rachel Porter does her originals at the Obar South on Slide and 101st, Yarn opens for Six Market Blvd for its show at the Blue Light , DJ Mario spins at Melt, Reverand Al and the Pythons rocks Cafe J (this may be the Toon -lots of the same members), David Trout starts his karaoke at Skooners, Johnny Beauford and the Jack Kerowax play rock at Bar PM, and the Zach Edwards Fiasco Band starts crankin at the Texas Cafe. At 7:00pm Mariachi Amistad plays tejano at Mi Taco Village, Gary Nix and the West Texas Band plays country at Dave-n-Don’s BBQ in Woodrow, the Metal Meltdown starts at the Depot Obar with mostly out of town metal bands Klause, DxOxCxTx, Dawn of Ages, Vise Versa, Saint Solution, and Dragg, Ryan Spivey plays at the Range, the Folk Jam night starts at Agape United Methodist Church, and Jody Nix and the Texas Cowboys play classic country at Dance With Me. At 7:30pm the Wade Parks Band plays originals at TnA’s, Lubbock Moonlight Musicals does Peter Pan at the Wells Fargo Amphitheater, and Alejandro Escovedo does the show at the Cactus Theater. At 8:00pm the Bourbon Cowboy opens for Single Tall Jack at the Obar South, Texas Cadillac Jack Band plays classic country at Jack and Diannes, D.G. Flewellyn plays his acoustic classics at Harrigans, Bo Garza plays a Alzheimers benefit at Stellas, Erick y su Grupo Massore plays at the Cactus Courtyard, Soul Station plays r&b and soul at La Diosa, and wonderful folks Bob and Penny Villa play classic rock and country at Rain Uptown. At 9:00pm Hip Hop Hooray gets their groove on at Club Karma, YBU plays country at the Koko, Early Morning Reign rocks out at Pub 50, DJ Eyeronik and DJ Pornographic Traphik do hip hop at Club Impulse, Plan B rocks out at Jakes, and the Dix Hat Band rascals play Americana originals at the Lone Star Grill at the entrance of Buffalo Springs Lake. Then late night at 10:00pm the Local Nobodys rock out at the Texas Cafe, Sober by Sunday starts playing their show at the 34th St. Obar, the Shane Rogers Band plays country rock at the Sting, Kirk Baxley plays alternative and country at Bash’s Main, Rosehill opens for Kimberly Dunn at The Office Bar and Grill, Touch of Soul plays funk at Cafe J, David Trout hosts karaoke at Skooners, DJ Rozaye spins at Melt, and the Roadhouse Trio plays rock at The Lantern. At 9:00pm there is a benefit at Kongs with DJ’s BigBadJon, Eyeonik, Term Unknown, Matt Rivera, Pornagraphik Traffick, and Durty Jones spinning for the cause. At 10:00pm the Sting song swap has Shane Rogers and Charlie Stout doing their music, Waylon Malay and Shelton Rohling host the open jam at Bucas, the Tuesday night jam with Sean Frankhouser and friends starts at Skooners, John Sprott moves over to play at Bar PM, the Local Nobodys play country rock at the 34th St. Obar, and the Water Liars and Thrift Store Cowboys play alternative at the Blue Light. Sunday, June 9, 2013 Lubbock music rocks on! Right now until 5:00pm either Jenni Dale Lord Trio or Kenny Maines is playing at Llano Estacado Wine and Clay Festival.
Then at 6:30pm Summer Solace with Moments Till Fall play metal at the Cactus Courtyard, and around 7:15 Melissa Grimes hosts the Rockin’ Box 33 at 1707 33rd street with tonights guests folk artists the Stray Birds. At 8:00pm the Westwinds Brass Band is at the Wagner Park “Concerts in the Park” series. At 9:00pm the Texas Cafe Sunday Night Open Jam starts, and at 10:00pm the open jams at Bar PM, the 34th St. Obar with Kevin Long and friends, and possibly Bucas open jam starts.
